Each year the board selects a few people to act as judges for the year. Each judge attends each play. At the end of the year, the judges select a best actor and actress to receive the Hector Award. The judges also select a best supporting actor and actress to receive the Pup Award.
At each performance, the people can vote for their favorite actor or actress. The results are accumulated, and the person with the most votes is given the People's Choice Award. In addition, an award is given to the person who receives the most votes throughout the year.
Each year the board selects a person who has provided outstanding service to HCT. The service may come in any format; from volunteer work for shows, to writing grants that help fund our community theatre! It's our way of thanking those who make Hawkeye Theatre possible!

Hawkeye Community Theatre is so thankful for Jon's help!
The theatre recently needed a fix during one of the busiest times of the year (our wonderful Christmas show!), and he selflessly volunteered his time and energy to fix up a very needed project for us!
We appreciate his help and service (and happy/encouraging presence during rehearsals) very much!

Karie is always there when you need her, keeping the theatre running and well! She can be counted on to take care of both big and small matters, many of which often go unnoticed!
She shows up for everyone, has performed in shows throughout the years, helps build sets for each show, and she also serves as the treasurer for Hawkeye's Board of Directors.
Hawkeye Community Theatre is so lucky to have her taking care of us, and we are thankful for all that she does!

It went without question that Joan was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for the 2025 season!
Joan has been a part of our theatre family for 25+ years. She was always positive, full of joy, encouraged everyone around her, and had so much love for life. She directed shows, helped with set, and served as a board member and business manager on the Board of Directors.
Hawkeye Community Theatre will miss her immensely.
Hawkeye Community Theatre wants to encourage young people to enter the rich, educational areas of theater. We realize that college costs are extremely high and that simple words of encouragement are not enough.
Therefore, Hawkeye Community Theatre is proud to be the provider of scholarships to students who are seniors in high school or freshman in college who show abilities, achievements, and love for theatrical endeavors. The Board of Directors review all submitted applications and present their findings to the board for a vote. They reserve the right to award either one or multiple scholarships in the amount of no less than $300 and no more than $750. These scholarships may be renewed for a second year.
To be considered, the applicant must complete an application and include three references. The references can be any of the following: school theater director, school counselor, advisor, teacher, clergy, community associate, neighbor, or business personnel. The scholarship(s) will be awarded on the basis of the student's interest, participation, and ability in the area of performing arts. The scholarship will be paid directly to the school upon evidence or proof of registration after school begins in the fall.
