AUDTIONS

Hawkeye Community Theatre holds open auditions and encourages anyone who is interested to try out. Auditions are determined by the director of the play. They are usually held at Hawkeye Theatre about eight weeks prior to shows start. Audition dates will be announced on our website and facebook page. Most directors audition through cold readings of the play being used. All auditions are postponed until further notice.

Directors are selected by board members at the beginning of each year. In order to be considered, each candidate must fill in a letter of interest and submit titles of multiple plays that he or she would be willing to direct. These must be received by Play Reading Committee no later than November 1st. The committee reads plays and submission forms and makes a recommendation to the board for the season.

People can get involved in Hawkeye Community Theatre in many different ways beyond acting or directing. Many roles are played behind the scenes. Here are a few: building set, painting/decorating set, running lights and sound, styling hair and make-up, photography, graphic design.
